Pushing the boundaries of cathodoluminescence detection

The SPARC Compact is an easy-to-use, highly efficient, fast and compact cathodoluminescence detector from the SPARC line of DELMIC CL solutions. Without compromising on high performance, this small-scale version of the SPARC cathodoluminescence system is perfect for researchers in geology and materials science who specifically require intensity measurements by a photomultiplier tube.

With this system, the color and intensity of the light emitted by the sample provide insights into such processes as crystal growth zonation, replacement, deformation, provenance, the presence of trace elements in rocks, and defect structures in semiconductors.

The SPARC Compact features a range of opportunities that combines ultimate performance with reliability and enhances the analytical capabilities at the disposal of today’s microscopists.

Modular and upgradeable

The SPARC Compact is a cathodoluminescence system that works out of the box and can be upgraded to high-performance angle-resolved CL imaging and hyperspectral CL imaging. Its modular design makes it easy to extend and add features to the system as research evolves.

This cathodoluminescence detector can also seamlessly be combined with other scanning electron microscope (SEM) detection modalities, such as EDS and BSE, thus making it a truly multifaceted solution.

A fast analog PMT detector can be used for large-scale imaging. This allows for the rapid inspection of large areas, ideal for geological applications, fast device inspection, and efficient region-of-interest finding. A filter wheel can be used for spectral differentiation.

User-friendly

ODEMIS software

ODEMIS is a software package which is being used for all Delmic microscopes to analyze the imaging workflow. The modular approach in combination with the open-source acquisition software ODEMIS ensures a user-friendly solution that can serve a broad user base as well as delivering a system that is a truly unique and versatile research instrument.

Features

For the SPARC Compact system, the software is specifically designed for the acquisition of intensity maps based on point-by-point scans, spectral differentiation based on filters in a filter wheel, and drift correction.
